This is Me - May 18 2012

There are some things you should know about me: (This was me in 2012-Clearly not accurate in 2025)

  1. When I was 13, I tried out for the movie Sister Act. Little did I know it was a movie where a lady disguised as a nun teaches a class from the ghetto how to sing soul music… I guess singing a country song for my audition wasn’t the best idea… ha ha.
  2. When I grew up, I tried another audition: American Idol! Well, we see where that got me… Back then, when you tried out, you had to stay in line overnight on a cement sidewalk in cold November weather just to have “my one shot” at fame… I’m glad it didn’t work out.
  3. When I was younger, I was such a bully to my two sisters… I mean, I would pull their hair, scream, and just be so bossy… Today, as adults, they are two of my closest friends. Thank goodness for forgiveness.
  4. I have a phobia of swing sets… Even just watching people swing makes me sick. My poor children will only get taken to the park by their dad.
( I STILL have issues with swings and anything that rocks. So weird. I do have a hard time watch my kids on a swing set)
  5. In high school, I tried out for the tennis team, made it, and was on the team for about a week. Ha ha, I guess it was just too much for me… Needless to say, that is the only sport I really enjoy playing today—even though I get beat by all who play me.
  6. In college and my early 20s, I swore I would never date or marry a boy from Utah or Idaho… I have had to seriously take that back several times… ha ha.
  7. My paternal grandparents are the greatest people I have ever known. They are a perfect example of true commitment to the Gospel and love for one another. I hope to be like them when I am a grandma.
  8. When I was little, my dream was to be a clothing designer or a singer… I would sit up for hours drawing dresses and pretend like I had a fashion show to plan. In my 20s, I abandoned the fashion designer idea and held on to the singing dream a little longer, but still have taken a different road. I miss it. That is why I can get so creative with things I wear.
  9. I only went to high school until 11th grade. I decided to graduate a year early, so I missed my entire senior year altogether. I was okay with that.
  10. People constantly mistake my age by at least 6 to 10 years too young. At 33, I can pass for 20. (I don’t know if this was accurate but I definitely don’t look way younger than my age anymore)
  11. I HATE getting out of my car and pumping gas. (still hate it)
  12. I am going to get on The Ellen Show before I die. (TOO LATE! Haha)
  13. I am a shopaholic. When I’m happy, I shop. When I’m mad, I shop. When I’m depressed, I shop… I love it. If you’re lucky and you’re with me, I will shop for you too… I am fully aware of this problem and have to empty out my closet at least once a month. If I didn’t have a walk-in closet, I would just die… My husband will have to keep his clothes in the trunk of his car… a girl’s gotta have her space… ha ha. (This is no longer accurate!)
  14. I am writing a book—yes, a real book… I have started taking a creative writing class so that I may better understand how to do it. It will be full of real-life dating and single adult experiences that I have had. Not a novel, but more like a self-help book… full of humor. I figure if I can just save one girl with my stories, then I have done my job. I seriously have a million to tell. (This book is still sitting in my brain-haha)
  1. I am a natural blonde… though I haven’t seen my true shade since high school. I love it, but I tell people all the time that if I look better as a brunette, they should go figure out what’s wrong with people who thought I was cuter before that. (cringe)
  2. In elementary, a girl poked me in the eye with a straw at lunch and I had to be the nurse’s office. I got a patch put on my eye. She got suspended. I was so embarrassed.

  3. I love to be creative with my writing.
  4. In junior high, I slapped a boy in the face because I just got tired of him trying to touch me all the time. He never talked to me again… or even looked at me. Oops. (I’m still proud of this)
  5. One time I lived in Italy as a missionary, and a woman tried to kiss me. Because I refused her she yelled at me and kicked us out. I was shook for the rest of the night.
  6.  I got proposed to 2 times in Italy. From Mario and Luigi. The real Nintendo brothers. Ha ha. (Just kidding… sort of.) (These were obviously not serious proposals hahaha)
  7. In the last 3 years, I have learned more about patience and forgiveness than I have in my entire life. The quote: “The never said it would be easy, but it would be worth it,” hits me hard every day. I walk the harder road with tears and bruises that never feel anything at all.
  8. I don’t believe in love at first sight or soulmates, but I do believe that there is someone out there who makes life endlessly fun and worthwhile. Who knows all my weaknesses, makes me laugh until I cry, who forgives me endlessly, walks with me when I need silence, and rests with me when I need sleep.
  9. Just to restate the end of #22—I would rather clean up in the kitchen than ever have to cook in it. (Though when I cook, people are shocked that I’m not terrible!)
  10. I love to play tricks on people. Some people would call them lies, but NOOO… as long as you sell it and no one believes me, I would still consider it a trick… ha ha. I guess I could be bad if I cry wolf too many times. (this is stupid and not accurate today)
  11. When I was in 8th grade, I peed my pants getting off the school bus several times. I guess I just always had to go around the same time every day and never made it. Most of the time I got off and walked the long road to my house. By the time I got there, I just couldn’t make it. Ew.
