Prank Calls For A Date - September 23 2012

So, if you know me, you know that I am a good prank caller. It goes back years. I’m so good that every time my girlfriends get together, they start scrolling through their phones to find people I can prank. I mean, I’ve been a little kid calling for daddy, looking for mommy, to a wife asking when they will return home. A lot of people hang up, but some actually play along — and that’s when it gets good.

My most recent prank was probably one of the best. For privacy’s sake, I won’t divulge the last name, but you must know the first to make this story just as funny as when it happened. I was asked to call a Fred — so I did. He answered, and the first thing I said was, “Honey, when are you coming home? I need dinner.” He gave that nervous laugh and then said, “I think you have the wrong Fred.” I told him, “Of course I don’t. This is Wilma.” He continued with his awkward laugh, told me he had another call on the other line, and would be right back. I told him he’d better come back, ‘cause I’d be waiting until he does — haha. (When you prank call, all sanity or normalness goes out the window.)

SO, when Fred came back on the line, he actually called out “WILLLLLLMAAAAA!” This made me laugh because he obviously understood I was referring to us as The Flintstones.

Fred and I proceeded to talk. I asked if he had a girlfriend, and when he answered no, I told him we should go to dinner (still kind of joking, because when you’re pranking, you can’t really get rejected). When he answered yes, I was actually surprised. But hey, if you are brave enough to actually go on a date with a random girl who pranks you, then you are for sure pretty cool. So, I gave him a day the next week. He told me I would have to pass a few tests before we could go out. OK, whatever.

We randomly texted a few things over the next couple of days. He figured out what friend gave me his number, and I assume he looked me up and found out who I was. Sadly, we never actually went to dinner — haha. He never gave me that “test” I was supposed to pass. I mean, this really would’ve been a great story to tell our kids. “Kids, I met your dad when I prank called him one night.” HAHA.

Unfortunately, this story can only go this far, but it was a pretty funny story at the time — and if the date had actually happened, it would have been even better. Oh well. There are always other numbers in my friends’ phones to get to yet. When you get to be my age and you’re the kind of girl that I am, with no shame and no embarrassment, you do and say whatever you want, with no fear of rejection. You can read this post and think of it as childish or stupid — and if you do, please move on, because you would not understand me or my humor.

I mean, gosh, at this point, what do I really have to lose???

I was seriously so cringe back in 2012-2013. I am surprised I had friends! Haha
